Introducing: A child-safe railing

John and his father worked incessantly today to construct and install a new child-safe railing in our upstairs hallway. I had intended to take a photo during construction, but they weren't having as much fun as you might imagine people would have while installing a railing, so I decided to give them some space. It was a wise decision. ;)

John's brother-in-law Bob surprised us by stopping by to do electrical work and installed ceiling fans in each room. I took a photo of the fan in the master bedroom, carefully avoiding the unmade bed. Elmo is demonstrating the safe spacing of the rails in the railing.

Meanwhile, John's mom and I went through all the wonderful clothes Louis has been loaned and admired them. Then she offered to wash them for me--hurrah!--so we gave her one laundry-basket full and saved one for us to do.

We are looking forward to more exciting posts as we move into the fall...!
