Future Football Fan?
Two years ago when we received our referral call for Louis, we were shopping at the grocery store. When our social worker finally reached us, she said, "I figured you were at a party watching the big play-off game." Um...right. Which game is that?
John and I are not really the greatest football fans. And, especially now that we have Louis home, I mainly appreciate how a good football game empties the grocery store.
Still, we don't know where Louis's interests may lie and he might enjoy being an avid sports fan. And we were (theoretically) rooting for our home team during the play-off game yesterday. So on Sunday afternoon as the game was ending, I turned on the football game.
Or, I should say, I tried to turn on the game.
As it turns out, since we live in the Dark Ages, we don't get that channel. You see, I just can't bear the thought of paying for TV. And since we only occasionally turn on the TV to watch something other than a DVD, we didn't realize that this channel was one we couldn't see--even with our digital converter box and the rabbit-ear antenna.
So, while my brother who is a few hundred miles north of us could watch the Ravens defeat some other team, well...we could only see the screen pop up every 90 seconds or so before it faded into oblivion.
Louis thought it was sort of funny. He walked around the TV, peering at it from every angle. "TV is broken," he said happily. He didn't really seem to mind.
He was happy to lounge in his Louis chair and pretend that the remote control was controlling the blank screen. And even though he couldn't see the game, he was in a terrific mood.
Frustrated? No, no. Not Louis. He curled up in his chair and smiled.
"I love football," he said.
Maybe someday he'll actually get to see a game.
I love the "plank" position he's doing in the one shot! He's got some strong muscles! haha
ReplyDeleteIsn't that funny? He can do things with his body that I will never be able to do!
ReplyDeleteHa! Gregory's interest in football is solely because it is on TV--and the only time he ever sees commercials.
ReplyDeleteCute! We are in the same boat as far as the channels we get with our antenna. I doubt Isabel will ever see a football game since her parents are so completely clueless!
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! It seems that Louis is able to have fun no matter what is happening. Great life skill! :)
